I’m incredibly honoured to be named Veterinary Business Thought Leader of the Year!
The award is given to an individual who has challenged the status quo, and stimulated industry debate for change in response to challenges facing veterinary business.
As a low-income minority youth in a small isolated town, I had to actively seek or create learning opportunities to better prepare myself for a career in veterinary medicine and I’m passionate about helping others pursue their dreams.
I created my public social media account (@veterinary_adventures) to build a platform for those who are on a similar journey to mine.
Over the past few years I have tried to be honest and open about my veterinary school journey.
I’ve used social media to:
•Raise awareness of the obstacles females and minorities face in pursuing STEM degrees
•Educate others on animal welfare issues and empower them to take action to help suffering animals throughout the world
•Serve as a mentor to pre-vet students
•Share my personal struggles with mental well-being to reduce the stigma around mental health
Whether you're a pre-vet student, vet student, new grad, professional, animal lover, minority, or underdog, we’re on this journey together and I’m so grateful for your support!
